Account Verification: Checking and Completing

Why Verification Matters

Google requires business listings to be verified before all features are available. A verified listing has full access to posting, reviews, and analytics. An unverified listing may have limited visibility or restricted functionality.

Checking Your Verification Status

Your verification status is displayed on the Accounts page next to each connected location. GBPCentral checks this status automatically when you first connect an account and updates it periodically. You can also see the verification method used and when the status was last checked.

Starting the Verification Process

If your account is unverified, GBPCentral can help you begin the verification process. The available verification methods depend on your business type and location. Common methods include:

  • Phone — Google sends a verification code via phone call or text.
  • Email — A verification code is sent to an email address associated with the business.
  • Postcard — Google mails a postcard with a verification code to your business address.

Not all methods are available for every business. Google determines which options you can use.

Completing Verification

Once you receive your verification code, enter it in GBPCentral to complete the process. If the code is correct, your account status will change to "Verified."

Verification History

GBPCentral keeps a record of your verification status changes. This history can be useful if you need to troubleshoot issues or understand when a listing's status changed.
