Managing Your Posts: Edit, Cancel, Retry, and Duplicate
Viewing Your Posts
Go to Posts in the sidebar to see all your posts. You can filter by status (Draft, Pending, Published, Failed, Cancelled), post type (Standard, Event, Offer), and the Google Business Profile account they belong to. Use the search bar to find posts by title or content.
Editing a Post
You can edit any post that has not been published yet. This includes posts with a "Draft" or "Pending" status. Click on the post, then click Edit to change the content, image, CTA, schedule, or any other detail.
Published posts cannot be edited. If you need to make changes to something that has already gone live, use the Duplicate feature to create a new version.
Cancelling a Post
If you have a pending or scheduled post that you no longer want to publish, you can cancel it. Cancelling changes the status to "Cancelled" and prevents it from being sent to Google. Cancelled posts remain in your list for reference but will not be published.
Retrying a Failed Post
If a post fails to publish, you will see a "Failed" status along with an error message explaining what went wrong. You can retry the post by clicking the Retry button. The system will attempt to publish it again.
Each post can be retried up to 3 times. The system uses increasing wait times between retries to give temporary issues time to resolve. If all 3 attempts fail, the post is marked as permanently failed. At that point, you may want to duplicate the post and try publishing the copy.
Duplicating a Post
Duplication creates a new draft copy of an existing post. The copy includes all the original content, image, and settings. The new post is set to Draft status and scheduled one hour into the future by default. You can edit the copy before publishing.
This feature is useful for:
- Creating a new version of a published post with minor changes.
- Reposting content that worked well in the past.
- Recovering from a permanently failed post.
Deleting a Post
Posts that have not been published can be deleted from the Posts list. Deleting a post removes it from your account. Published posts cannot be deleted through GBPCentral. If you delete a master recurring post, all its unpublished instances are also removed.
