Account Over-Limit After Downgrading

Why This Happens

When you downgrade to a subscription plan with a lower account limit, you may end up with more connected accounts than the new plan allows. For example, if you had 10 accounts on the Agency plan and downgrade to Pro with a limit of 5, the extra 5 accounts are flagged as "over limit."

What You Will See

The Accounts page shows a warning banner that includes:

  • Your new plan's account limit.
  • How many accounts you currently have.
  • How many are over the limit.
  • The grace period deadline (30 days from the downgrade).
  • How many days remain.

Your Options

You have 30 days to resolve the situation. During this grace period, all your accounts continue to work normally. You can:

  1. Upgrade your plan — Switch back to a plan that supports more accounts. The over-limit flags will be removed immediately.
  2. Disconnect excess accounts — Manually disconnect accounts you no longer need. Once your total is at or below the limit, the warning goes away.

What Happens After 30 Days

If you take no action, the system automatically deactivates excess accounts after the grace period ends. Deactivated accounts:

  • Stop syncing analytics data.
  • Cannot publish new posts.
  • Keep all their historical data intact.

You will receive notifications before and when deactivation happens.

Getting Accounts Back

If you upgrade your plan later, deactivated accounts can be reactivated. The system restores the most recently deactivated accounts first, up to the number of available slots in your new plan.
