GBPcentral Editorial

Editorial standards

Everything we publish about Google Business Profile is written by GBPcentral Editorial, our in-house team, and grounded in the work the platform does every day. This page explains how we research, write, review, and correct that guidance.

Who writes here

Articles carry the byline GBPcentral Editorial rather than a single name. The credit sits with the team and the platform behind it, because the experience that informs the writing belongs to the operation as a whole, not to one person.

The experience behind the guidance

GBPcentral is a platform for managing Google Business Profile listings. Its day-to-day work is the source of our practical knowledge:

  • It runs automated profile audits that score a Google Business Profile across nine categories.
  • It tracks local rankings on a geo-grid across a set of map points.
  • It scores profile health and surfaces the specific fields that need attention.
  • It manages posts and reviews for business profiles.

When an article makes a practical claim about what works, it comes from that hands-on practice, not from restating documentation.

How we research

We cite primary sources. For anything Google controls, that means Google's own documentation and the observed behavior of the product itself. We do not build claims on second-hand summaries or on other blogs restating the same guidance.

Where a point rests on our own practice, we say so plainly and describe it in true terms. We do not publish numbers we cannot stand behind, and we do not present estimates as measurements.

Review and freshness

Every article shows the date it was published and, when it has been revisited, the date it was last reviewed. Google changes how Business Profiles work often, so guidance that was correct a year ago can drift. We revisit articles when the underlying product or Google's documentation changes, and we update the review date only when the content itself was checked.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix the article and make the correction visible rather than quietly editing it away. If you spot an error, tell us and we will look into it.
