Most websites are created using templates as a static product, one that contained different types of code that made management a total unbearable. That code – using JavaScript, Flash, HTML – was very tough for many website owners to handle. You have to keep webmaster “on the payroll” to make constant updates and changes, as a result, they were expensive to sustain so, unless a site owner could handle the task, somebody with the skill, knowledge and software had to be hired to perform the necessary updates.

Therefore, a need to create a system where website owners could perform updates such as making changes to copy, image replacement and add content without knowing any difficult coding.  Content Management System, or CMS, was developed. At the core of the system is a database where all contents are stored – copy and images can be  retrieved and edited. Every site page is stored as simple text. The system converts this simple text into the suitable HTML and JavaScript when a visitor lands on the page. The system also allows for the integration of a variety of features such as interactive event calendars; members register with user names and passwords, news feeds, blogs, photo galleries and more.

If you are having a great deal of problems with your webmaster on maintaining a static site, it may be time to upgrade and use a Content Management System. Here are some of the problems associated with a static website that if you recognize as frustrating, might be that sure indication it is time to CMS.
