How to Move WordPress From A Directory To Root

Before you start to move your WordPress from directory to root is best to back up your WordPress and database just in case you run into problems and want to have it back the way you had your WordPress set up.

The Video Tutorial below will show you the process on how to back up WordPress and database,move files and folders and change the urls in database to the new position of WordPress

By default when you download WordPress and unzip the folder you will find that you have all core files and folders in WordPress directory.There may be time that you want to set it all up in directory (folder) and test it out and get it all setup and then move WordPress to your root and make it live

or
you may decide to move for any other reason and you have content in the database and by simply moving files and folders over to root you will break your WordPress.

There are rules to follow to move WordPress to root or in folder and video below will walk you through all the steps to move WordPress safely and without any downtime.

  • You should have images in wp-content/uploads folder and the urls are saved in database so check your urls in wp_posts if you changed your domain name.

  • Thank you for posting the url normally I do not approve but I checked the video and as is a free plugin and I have not tested the plugin but from what I show in video seems as if it works.
