I have covered on how to install  wamp and easyphp in  articles and install wordpress to learn how to use wordpress locally.

Now that you learned how to use wordpress using wamp/easyphp server and you are ready to move your wordpress to a online host so that you can go live with your wordpress.

There are some steps that needs to be followed so that  you can move wordpress with out any problems.

First install a wordpress on your  hosting account using a fantastico  install program or if your host do not have any install program then install manully by uploading wordpress files and folders, create a database and run install program by going  to your website URL in address bar.
[adsense float = 'center']
Update wordpress that is on your wamp/easyphp to same version  you installed on host account.

Log in admin panel in wamp/easyphp  install and change urls in Settings>>>General to your domain name where you installed wordpress and switch to default theme.

Go to your wamp PhpMyAdmin and export the database and save database as file.

Upload your wp-content folder to your host install as that is where all your plugins, images and themes are saved.

Log in on your server and go to PhpMyAdmin and click on database and scroll down and click on Check All so that all tables are ticked and then select drop from dropdown menu and click Go

This will drop all tables from database.

Click on import and browse for that database file you saved in wamp/easyphp in step above and click Go this will import your database tables you had in wamp.

Once they are imported Go to your website and you will have your default theme open login in admin switch to your theme and check your plugins if they are activated.

Make sure that you clear your cache and cookies when viewing your website.

Reset your permalinks if you used them in your Wamp/Easyphp install on your computer.

    Hello,
This has been very helpful, but when I get to the end of the steps and go to my website, it sends me to the WordPress install page (wp-admin/install.php), even though I already did that step earlier.

Everything went ok with the import of the database and I cleared my browsing cache. Not sure what to do next. Thanks.

  • Have you tried to go through steps of install.php may be you need to upgrade a database as you imported the database.
Make sure you keep a backup database.
