Why you should change a domain name to a brand-new web hosting supplier:

* The Web Host didn’t render what was assured in their advert
* Sluggish or not responding technical backup
* Undependable service
* Excessively costly
* Restricted space and bandwidth for your site
* Desire to change over from a Windows server to a Linux server
* Do not possess all the features required to host your site

How to move wordpress to new host supplier

1. Look for a dependable web hosting supplier

The most essential characteristics to seek for in a dependable web host are:

* Adequate space and bandwidth to host your site
* Quick, effective, experienced technical backup
* Web site statistics to track the functioning of the web site
* Day-to-day updates of your files
* Host server is dynamic ninety-nine percent of the period (one percent required for server upgrades)
2. Alter your name servers

The name servers are employed to direct your domain name to the host server where your site will be hosted. When you have sign up to your brand-new web host they’ll send you the brand-new name servers. They’ll appear like this:

ns1.yourdomain.com

ns2.yourdomain.com

For Instance

These are the ways to move WordPress to new host name servers if you are using Go Daddy as your domain name registrar:

* Sign in to your registered account with your registered username and password
* Click and go to web address manager
* Check the box close to your domain name
* Mouse click on the name servers icon at the top side of the page
* Check the box that reads “I’ve particular nameservers for my domains”.
* Insert your brand-new name servers in the two boxes… nameserver 1 and nameserver 2
* Mouse click okay

Give it up to twenty-four to forty-eight hours for the name servers to be active. This period is required for your web address to spread all over the web. Perform a Whois search at Whois.net to ascertain if the name servers have been set off. If this has been successfully accomplished you could now upload your site files to the host server and your site will show up on the internet.

3. Delete your former host

Simply execute this when you’ve changed your domain name to the brand-new host. Sometimes if you state to your previous host you want to change to a different one that will not allow you or are unwilling to do so because they do not wish to lose you as their client. A few web hosting suppliers will bundle up the domain name and hosting service collectively. If you attempt to move to a brand-new web host you might lose the domain name. In this instance your only alternative will be to register a brand-new one prior to changing to a brand-new web hosting service.

Tip

When changing to a brand-new web hosting supplier ask them for counsel or assistance in the change. They’re generally very elated to assist.

  • You have to correct this before some newbie reads this and brings down their site.

    If I were to follow your 3 steps I would crash my website because you tell me to change my name servers (point to a new host) and delete my old (current) host

    WITHOUT EVER MOVING MY WORDPRESS DATABASE, FILES OR ANYTHING!!!

    Anyone following this would crash their site and if they did not have a backup they would lose their blog permanently!!!

    You need to read the article Again as I have said to backup your home directory and database before you do anything and in video I have done the same.
    I make it bold so that a newbie takes notice of it.

  • Um

    This is completely unhelpful, it doesn’t explain how to move anything. This just deals with the domains. How do I duplicate my database?

  • The article and video is about moving wordpress to new host if you want to duplicate your database go in PhpMyAdmin on your server and click on the database and click export tab and save the database as a sql file on your computer and import it same way where ever you want.

    I did as your video says. However when I go to the page there is nothing there. Does your video work with WordPress june 2011? I found the only option I had was to go login page and there it would give me the option to only reinstall wordpress, when I did all the pluggins would be there but none of my post it was like a new site. How do I get around this problem please? Thank you. Mark

  • All your data is saved in database so if you export your data from PhpMyAdmin and and drop tables in new wordpress install and import the database in new install will have your posts and pages.

    The other way is log in admin on your old server click on tools and export and import the posts and pages in new wordpress install.

    I know nothing about WP and recently purchased a domain and site from the previous registrant. Needed to understand how to move this site to my hosting account for my other sites. Your video explains things reasonably well.

    I was curious about a few items;

    current domains I have are all html, etc..do I need to do any prep work like turn on WP in the cpanel or just follow your instructions

    links, how do they migrate from a hosting that is currently a subdomain to an add on domain? Hopefully, there is a simple way to accomplish this. or perhaps its almost automatic

    cleaning the html code in the pages so that it is less errors, off loading the JS files into a separate folder to improve spider crawling..can this be done before the restoration of the site to the new add on domain host?

  • Is this website on wordpress and do you have backup of database. In wordpress all urls are saved in database and you need to change them to new domain name from sub domain name this article on my website will help you more on how accomplish that in database.

    If you have html based website then you need to install wordpress on it own so either move html website out of folder and then upload wordpress files andd folders or install wordpress in a new folder.

    Simply saying ‘Thank You’ does not adequately express what you have given us here and on the links article page. However it will have to suffice.

    I only ran into a couple minor problems, first was changing the database password. I simply forgot. The links was a momentary glitch, until I checked the wp_posts data and noticed that it was without the ‘www’.

    Again Thank You!

  • Thanks patel, i am planning to move my site to new hosting company. i will follow your tips.
